My name is Mariah Sirkin, and I am the 7th grade science teacher for the Discovery Team at Greenwood Middle School. This is my 16th year teaching, and I was even a student at GMS many years ago. I graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in Biology and Chemistry.
I love science. It amazes me that the more we think we know, the more we find out we have to learn. I am constantly in awe of how nature works and the wonder of what makes it continue. I hope to share this with you this school year. Even if you don't really like science, hopefully by the end of the year you will at least have some appreciation for what is happening around us every second.
So what should you expect for this school year? Reading articles, a bit of homework, labs, computer lessons, videos, review games, labs, writing, group work, Rube Goldberg projects, cell models, and more labs.
As the year progresses, you may get stuck. Please ask questions. If you have a questions, there are probably others in the class with the same question! This is your chance to be a leader. To help out, I will put most of your material here on the website. You can use it here at school or at home. Your parents can see what you are doing and may even be interested to learn a little too. I will post videos, review games, notes, homework, and articles to help you. Please use them!
I look forward to a great year! Get ready to learn!
